Hello,
I was seeing some unexpected behaviour when using the X11 Double
Buffer Extension. Code that has always and still works perfectly on
the OSX 10.4.11 X11 server and on the X.Org server in the current
Cygwin distribution gives a corrupted window content on OS X 10.6.4
and 10.6.5, using either Apple's X11 server or the current XQuartz
server. With corrupted I mean that the image is split/doubled
horizontally, and what has to be a white background is rendered in
some sort of purple.
Apparently I was selecting the wrong visual? I got a 15bit visual on
the 10.6 server (number 884), but a 24bit visual on the 10.4 server.
Now that I'm searching the list of DBE-supporting visuals to find the
one with the highest perflevel (they're all at 0 btw) and the deepest
depth, I obtain the same visual as I'm using otherwise (without XDBE),
and behaviour is correct. Still, I'd like to understand what was wrong
with the other visual, as there was no information available that made
it evident to avoid it ... that would clearly be a good idea as using
it can generate a server crash!
TIA,
René
