Do you use rootless or rooted (ie, fullscreen) mode? In rootless mode
the focus loss is quite fast and one can almost ignore it. But it
rooted mode, it is painfully slow, usually a few seconds and sometimes
it lasts for 5 to 10 seconds. It is also more disruptive since it
toggles you back to the "Mac" desktop. I really think if more people
used rooted mode, the noise to fix this would be much louder. I also
think it shows just how little Apple cares about X11 that this huge
annoyance is not fixed, even years after it was first reported.
Imagine how fast it would have been fixed if this happened in iTunes.
