Hi everybody,
Let me first apologize for not reading the archives, but honestly, I'm not sure what to search for.
I have a Macbook with OS X version 10.6.
I administer the sandbox environment at UCSF which has Sun GLobal Desktop running in front of terminal servers - most of the terminal servers, where applications are, are running Windows XP.
So yesterday (I believe it happened after OS X update) I started seeing garbled and melted fonts on any Windows XP window that I opened remotely from my macbook.
Suspecting this was an Xwindows issue on my laptop, I opened X configuration and changed few things. After that, every time I (or any application) try to open Xwindows I just see gray screen with nothing in it. At this point, there is nothing else I can do but restart macbook.
So basically I created another issue while trying to solve the original one.
My questions are:
1. How do I fix X configuration, AT the virtual terminal, without starting X? (When I start X, I get a gray screen and the only way I know to get rid of it is to start the machine)
2. Once I resolve that, I wonder if anybody has seen this font melting in a remotely opened window before.
Thanks for your help.
Frankie
