Please do open a bug report at http://xquartz.macosforge.org for this issue. There have been numerous reports of issues with clipboard functionality that I've been wanting to fix for quite some time now. With the new 2.7.0 release, I'm overhauling how logging works, so it should be easier to add better logging to xpbproxy, but I want to fix showstoppers on 2.7.0 first and worry about something like this in the 2.7.1 timeframe.
