X11 has stopped working...

  • Subject: X11 has stopped working...

It was working. On my Mac Pro with Mountain Lion, I uninstalled Norton
and rebooted. Now, x11 forwarding is not enabled:
jarmac:~ jar$ ssh 192.168.1.70
Last login: Mon Aug 20 13:29:23 2012 from 192.168.1.11
Have a lot of fun...
jar@jarfx:~> xterm -sb &
[1] 25392
jar@jarfx:~> xterm Xt error: Can't open display:
xterm: DISPLAY is not set

And, I tried to reinstall Xquartz 2.7.2, and the installer just sits
there and must be force quitted.
Xquartz is still installed and runs, but when I try to run X11, it sends
me to a web page to install Xquartz.
xterm works locally on my Mac.

What happened, and how do I recover?
