I'm not doing remote installation. I did wonder what the heck is this thing doing during the installation process but half that time is being taken up by the GUI waiting for those 16 clicks. The number of clicks is the bigger deal. I didn't count but I think it took less clicks when I installed Mountain Lion from the app store and that's a whole OS.
This really isn't an issue for me personally since I already have X11 installed and I won't need to install it again anytime soon. Installing from the command line might reduce the number of clicks but no user is seriously going to do that. That also isn't the point. My point is that I want to improve the default X11 installation experience for everyone.

Hi,
I really fail to understand the point you are trying to make here.
I don't see how you consider the installation time of X11/Xquartz to be excessive. '16 clicks or 3 minutes', its thats really what it takes (I didn't count the clicks last time I did it, but it was less than 3 mins I'm sure) does not seem bad to me, given how often users need to install X11. Really, is this an issue for you ?
Chris
No, you don't have my permission to post my post there.
16 clicks and 3 minutes is excessive and I think it can be improved. People can flame, people can make fun of the situation, or people can be helpful. It's a personal choice. I'm trying to improve the situation.

Permission to post this to http://first-world-problems.com/ ?
Seriously, thanks to Jeremy any everyone else for keeping X11 alive on Macs, it's an essential tool for my work and fully worth the 3 minutes and 16 clicks.
