I don't think so (that'd be a popup window, not a file stashed somewhere?) It doesn't seem to crash; just exits immediately.

No, nothing.

No. Nothing at all from X11/xterm. There's a bit when X starts up (see below), but nothing at all when attempting to start the xterms.

See below. I think the /usr/X11/bin/xterm is from the Lion install, and /opt/X11/bin/xterm is from the XQuartz install?

I was running 2.7.0 under Snow Leopard. After the lion upgrade, it didn't work, so I figured I'd install the latest (2.7.1), since you normally need to re-install xquartz after Apple upgrades. Still didn't work. Then I noticed just how new 2.7.1 was and re-installed 2.7.0 (after manually deleting xquartz.app due to the installer issue. That should have been sufficient, right?) It's still not working. The examples were run with 2.7.1 re-installed.
