I just got around to upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion, and xterm seems to have broken; it exits (silently, as far as I can tell) immediately after being run (having survived just long enough to grab focus.)
I had 2.7.0, upgraded to 2.7.1, deleted that and tried re-installing 2.7.0, then reinstalled 2.7.1 again. No changes in behavior :-(
Other X applications (Xlogo, xfontsel, xclock) work fine…
Other usernames on the same computer (without any x customization) exhibit the same behavior.
Any ideas?
