Hello,
Here's my situation. I run Mac OS X Lion and I decided to use some applications that use X11, like GIMP. They simply do not run. I have determined that I have the X11.app, but I don't have any of the system files needed to run it. Also, the "startx" command in terminal doesn't work. I read to reinstall I need the X11User.pkg and X11SDK.pkg. I was able to find the X11User.pkg on the Lion recovery disk image. However, I'm not able to find X11SDK.pkg anywhere. I read it can be installed with the help of Xcode, however, I couldn't find it there either. Somebody please tell me where I can find the X11SDK.pkg. Thanks!
In Xcode-4.3, the X11SDK is part of the Command Line Tools optional
install. It is very carefully hidden, so that no unsuspecting consumer
might be hurt by installing it unintentionally. You have to run
/Applications/Xcode.app, then open Preferences, and in the Downloads
section, you find Components -> Command Line Tools. It doesn't tell you
that X11SDK is in there, but it is.
