It was a year ago that I did this on Lion so it's possible I'm not remembering correctly which X11 version it was.  My x11perf notes say I used Mac OS 10.7.3 and X version 1.4.2, unfortunately I didn't record the X11.app version. It's possible that I used X11.app 2.3.6 that was copied from my Snow Leopard machine. Mac OS X Lion caused all sorts of X problems for me and since my MacBook Air was my demo machine I tried all sorts of solutions.

On my 2011 MacBook Air the x11perf benchmark for -copywinwin500 was 6250/sec and -copypixwin500 was 2390/sec which is extremely good for integrated graphics (Intel HD 3000).

This is confusing to me.  X11.app in Lion was 2.6.3.  SUs updated it with minor fixes to 2.6.4.

This seems odd to me.  Lion's X11.app is 2.6.3 (and updated in an SU to 2.6.4).

This unfortunately doesn't narrow it down much.  Now we know that your issue is between 2.3.6 and 2.6.3.  That's about a 2 year timespan.  In any event, there's now a bug report for it, so I'll look into it as priorities allow.

Thanks,
Jeremy
