As I mentioned earlier, I've solved it, though not really the "right"
way. I've got a tiny Tcl/Tk script that you paste into from X, and
after clicking a button, it copies it to the OS X pasteboard. Simple,
and no more than I had to do before I got my Mac, when I was running
'doze and Cygwin//X11R6 to access my FreeBSD system (now retired, along
with the 'doze box).
Frankly, now I'm more p*ssed off about how an upgrade of OS X Lion the
other day decided, on its own (and absolutely without my permission, or
even bothering to tell me that it had dicked around with my installed
software without my permission) ), that I wanted to get rid of Mozilla
Seamonky, along with a few other programs. But that's off-topic here, so
I'll leave it at that and just refuse future "updates".
