May be the simplest method is to use the "application" menu in X11 menu bar. The last item( I cant give you its name, I have a french system) allows you to add a new application you can call from this menu. I sue it to create an xterm with a scroll bar. You simply have to give a name (should be "myxterm" and to write the command to launch it (xterm -blablabla). You will find the blablabla by typing "man xterm" in any local terminal or xterm. Dont be afraid, its a book, you will find hundreds of options with + or - followed by any improbable combination of upper and lower case letters (and numbers).
