Hello.
If you look in /etc/profile you will see a line like this:
…
eval `/usr/libexec/path_helper -s`
…
path_helper will source the files in //etc/paths.d and /etc/manpaths.d
and appends their contents to the PATH and MANPATH environment
variables respectively.
The resulting path will be your default path.
Take a look at the manual page for path_helper.
