I added xinit to X11 app but the window manager (fvwm) does not open separate screen and most commands don't work - e.g. setroot, AddToMenu Window-Ops don't exist. Is it possible to have an X11 window manager with Yosemite? How to configure it?

1. Make sure "Displays have separate Spaces" is OFF. XQuartz does not work with this configuration yet.

2. You want to switch XQuartz to full-screen mode (Preferences > Output > Full-screen mode).

3. If you were expecting to use an X11 window manager to manage native windows... this does not work and will never work. X11 can't even see native windows, much less manage them.
