Yeah, I'm on 10.12.5, and also XQuartz 2.7.11.

One thing I've noticed is that you generally need to reinstall XQuartz
after an OS upgrade (just re-run its installer, if you kept the .dmg).
For me, failure to do that generally results in remote xauth problems
before I notice any other symptoms, but maybe it could cause this too?
