The Linux-server may deny port-forwarding,- which is the mechanism
behind X11-forwarding. You should not use -X since this has
some security implications, use -Y instead.
First of all, login with ssh to the remote server:
$ ssh -Y ... email@hidden...
Once logged in, do:
$ echo $DISPLAY
What does this command show you?
