I don't seem to see this. It would be good to file a bug with very
specific instructions on how to reproduce this at
<http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter>.
That'll be easy: 1. Click; 2. Type. 3. Try to find where the text was
inserted. I"ll file the bug report.
I cannot duplicate this (tried with all the editor combination I could
think of) and have never seen this yet. I use mostly secondary editor
windows not the one in the project window. I have Code Sense turned on
to automatically suggest and am using speculative compiling.
The only thing that I can think of is that you editor is going into
the background or otherwise losing focus so the click is bring focus
back not go towards moving the insertion point.
It's a real problem, as I get it frequently at home on my dual G5. I
too thought I must be going insane... I'm not seeing it here in the
office on my MDD machine. I can assure you that it makes fluid source
editing most difficult when it happens.
The original description is correct. The first click in any (most)
XCode editor window is ignored and the typing location is somewhat of a
mystery. Code completion is disabled (from what I can tell, Apple does
not currently make hardware fast enough to make code completion useful,
but that is different problem).
If I can figure out what triggers it, I'll write a bug report too.
Dave
