The one way I've figured out how to get rid of the editor in the
project window is to make sure you have the "Show Editor" button in
your toolbar. This toggles to "Hide Editor" when the editor is open.
Can't find a menu selection for this though.

A follow up on the editor in the project window. Still want to know
how to get rid of it, but I found out how it got there. My project is
set to *always* open a new window (the way I want it.) Regardless of
this setting, if you have an error or warning, and you click on it in
the databrowser pane, it opens a editor pane in the project window and
then a new window.
