NSTableView woes

My app has a master (NSTableview)/detail (other stuff) UI. When app launches, it creates a single 'template' master record. When I compile under Xcode and run it, the table view periodically doesn't display the one record (more accurately, it periodically displays the one record). If I run the same compiled version on 10.2.8, it works fine. I have filed a bug on this (#3470688), but I'd like to find a workaround for now. Any suggestions?
