important to me, as my app is 60mb with debug symbols on, and 5 mb
with them off.
I believe that DEBUGGING_SYMBOLS is ignored in Xcode. You actually
need to uncheck the "Generate debugging symbols" option instead. Same
goes for the optimization setting. I believe it's a known bug that
Xcode isn't upgrading these settings.

Ya, thanks for the suggestion, but I've done that already. I have set

'Generate Debugging Symbols' in all targets and styles. Newly created
native targets also build with debug symbols, even if those options are
unchecked.
