Perhaps if someone who's an Xcode power user would write a small document on a workflow that works for you some of us PB-heads might get a better perspective :D As with any new UI, users will attempt to use it like the old UI, which is almost never the best thing to do. I agree with the search field comment, but it took me forever to let go of navigating by hierarchy.

I'm nowhere near an XCode power user, as I'm still evaluating migration to it for the office.

Though, I am using it at home for my own projects. Overall, I like it. But I must admit it's far more usable with a wide screen (I have a 20" Cinema display), because of the side bar.

Things that make it nice is the separate debugger trace window. It at least cuts down on required screen estate while tracing.

The one thing that annoys me the most, though, is that I can never get XCode to squish it's file list "smart result" top pane above the source code. Whenever I open a project, it's there in my face wasting nearly 2 inches of vertical screen estate. I'd rater select my sources from the sidebar (since I'm forced to use it either way) and edit my code than toying with "smart playlists" on the left and deal with results on top. Sheesh! iTunes is not a code editor!! (How about a Source Code Store anyone? :-) I have learned to group/organise my files myself by now (when you're dealing with 35,000+ files, you have to).

If I were to rate XCode thus far, I'd give it an 8 out of 10. Given the above didn't score for me, the other point loss goes to the dubious use of "wow-factor" UI power-gizmos. Was it necessary to use a drawer for compiler output?? The old PB simplified build result was also more usable in terms of navigating for errors and warnings.

Still, 8 out of 10.
