I think there are two main problems to be solved here
1. Executables need an inspector (instead of an editor).
2. Having the build styles UI in the project inspector is not the right
thing :) We need to move that UI somewhere more central.
We are working on both of these directions for a future release.

Well, we still have the Build Results window which displays an outline
view of the warnings, errors, and build steps. Or are you talking more
about having an attached editor on the separate window.

Realize that if you are not using the attached editor, you can "morph"
the project window into just the groups view by double-clicking on the
split controller next to the "Groups" column header (you can also
collapse the groups view by double clicking on a similar widget on the
right edge of the project window).
