Seems like Ian Joyner had Eiffel working inside Project Builder pretty
well. It's been ages since I looked at it all, but the work ought to
transfer to Xcode without much effort. Is there something that's
missing or doesn't work well? If there are particular places that we
need to open up more, it's probably best to ask at
<email@hidden>.
As far as LaTeX goes, I'm not sure I could help much. I've managed to
avoid it successfully for many years now. ;-) One ought to be able to
syntax color it at least, but I don't really know what other support
you'd want. Again, the feedback address is probably the best place to
ask for specifics.

Currently, aside from the .pbfilespec and .pblangspec file (which can
be used to provide syntax coloring and file type information), there
isn't much support for integrating "other" languages into Xcode. We
also have newer features like build rules (see the 'Rules' tab of the
target inspector) and we provide the "GNU Makefile target" which can be
use more generically to drive an external build system, but our main
focus is on the C family of languages (C, C++, ObjC, ObjC++, Java, and
AppleScript.
I think it's fair to say that, in the long run, many of us on the team
would like to see Xcode be able to deal better with these "other'
languages, but for now our focus is on improving the support for the
core set of languages above.

I know that it's not actually this list's subject of interest, but
here's my question :
are there any plans to open Xcode to other languages than the C-type
family (++, java, ...) ?
Personnaly, I use quite esoteric languages (like Eiffel) and would
like to use Xcode not only for coding, but also to write LaTeX
documents ...
It would only be a matter of giving free developpers decent tools to
write modules for other languages ; if Xcode is made like it seems to
me, this should not be a big effort ...
Or does anyone know about a (even minimalistic) tutorial or doc about
writing such modules ?
Thanks
