missing file: default.pbxuser

Although it doesn't seem to have too much of an affect, I've discovered a
strange issue when creating Cocoa projects in XCode. It came to my attention
when XCode unexpectedly quit after I closed a project. I checked out the
console log and discovered this set of messages:

2004-04-09 16:02:50.785 Xcode[757] Warning: Directive to macro-expand missing
file /Users/username/projectName/projectName.xcode/default.pbxuser
2004-04-09 16:11:16.616 Interface Builder[788] WARNING:
PBXExternalEditorServer: Attempt to perform a didCloseFile: for an
unregistered external editor.
2004-04-09 16:18:42.021 Xcode[757] *** Assertion failure in
-[PBXAttributedStatusView setStatusString:andProgress:priority:],
pbxinterface/ProjectWorkspace.subproj/Widgets/PBXAttributedStatusView.m:334
2004-04-09 16:18:42.156 Xcode[757] Exception raised during posting of
notification. Ignored. exception: Assertion failed: statusString != nil

I'm pretty sure, given the fact that they all involve 'PBX'-something, that
the errors trace back to the first message, which got called when the project
was initially created. I tried making a few new projects with the console open
and got the same warning for the macro-expand directive. The files that ARE
created inside the projectName.xcode package are:

project.pbxproj
AND
username.pbxuser

Has anyone else noticed this problem? I can't say that I know what those files
are for, or even what the PBX prefix represents, so I don't really know what
issues might arise - but evidently from the unexpected crash - issues do
arise.

Any suggestions?
