In case you're building Metapackages with relocatable packages

  • Subject: In case you're building Metapackages with relocatable packages

FYI, there are 2 bugs in Installer.app:

- Mac OS X 10.3 and later: if you have a relocatable package in a metapackage, the custom destination is not taken into account.

- Mac OS X 10.2.8 and later (and probably as early as 10.2): if you have 1 relocatable package among others in a metapackage, the whole metapackage is relocatable contrary to what is stated in the documentation. (But of course, in 10.3 due to the above bug, the target destination is not taken into account).

Bugs filed on Bug Reporter.

Tip of the day: Don't use the relocatable flag for packages in metapackage. It's not supported correctly.
