The above workaround eventually quit on me. I'd pick a project file out
of my File History popup menu, and nothing would happen. The selected
popup menu item's title wouldn't even change.

I reapplied the workaround by again shutting off external editing and
reselecting all my project files one at a time, but these are some
pretty silly steps to take just to use the debugger. Are other people
with external editing enabled seeing the same limitations on viewing
files with Xcode's editor?
