apologies if this is what you're describing already.

Try going to the Target group in the project window, selecting the appropriate target, getting info (command-i) and changing the name therein.

I'm trying to build a C++ tool. I used the Assistant and gave a default name for the product/executable. I later wanted a different name for the final product. The results weren't pretty.

* Changed the name of the executable under the "Executable" branch. Unlike PB, the corresponding entry under the "Products" branch did _not_ change!

* I did a similar procedure to change the name under the "Products" branch. I didn't noticed for a long time that the actual product name didn't change! The name change showed up in the GUI, but the compiled product used the old name (in the "Products" branch). Sure enough, when I closed and reopened the project file, the old name was there.

* Possible bug 1: changing the "Executable" name didn't change the "Products" name

* Bug 2: If the name (under "Products") cannot really change, then the GUI renaming definitely shouldn't succeed.

* Bug 3: When I do a rename, the name looks selected, but there's no thin black/grey border box. I didn't realize that I was in edit mode at first.

* When I do a "Get Info" on the "Executable" name, I see an entry where I can change the real name, but it always blocks my edits. (And the "Change" button is grayed out.)

On a separate matter, I need a similar target, so I duplicated the first one. This put two entries under "Executable" and "Products". The second target had the same rename problem. Worse, when I select the "Products" group, I have no indicator which item goes with which target.
