I've long been a believer in the idea that the right colours in your
editing window can reduce eye fatigue, make you more efficient, etc.
I'm still undecided as to whether to use a light or dark background. I
usually prefer dark, but then it's so hard to find colours that show up
well against it.
So, here's the question: Has anyone found a reference indicating
colours which have been scientifically shown to reduce eyestrain? I've
heard, for example, that a green and white checkerboard is better than
red and black. But, beyond 2 colours, I'm at a loss. I've tried to
google this, but I've found very little in this vein. It seems someone
in User-interface design MUST have addressed this question at some
point!
Any tips to good resources? While I appreciate well-intentioned
suggestions for colours, that's not what I intend for this thread. I'm
interested in finding an answer with observable scientific
justification, as opposed to personal preference. This sounds like
something apple might have researched at some point. hm.
