coding fonts

Hi all. I know some people have talked about fonts now and then. I currently code with Monaco 9, though I prefer to print with Courier. Unfortunately, Xcode 1.5 doesn't support different display and print fonts. Bbedit does! :)

But, what i'm wondering is this: if I open font book, I have 5 fonts in the "fixed width" category: Andale Mono, Courier, Courier New, Monaco, and VT100.

Andale is ok, but shows up kinda funny and thin.
Courier feels too crowded
Courier new is too thin and antialiases itself into blurriness
Monaco is my best choice, but seems inefficient spacewise when sized above 10 or so
VT100 is just butt-ugly. it would be almost ok, except it has some really oddly shaped characters, and it's not clear if anti-aliasing even works!

So I'm interested in 2 things:

1. What font do you use/recommend?

2. Can you suggest a source to acquire additional fixed-width fonts at low cost (or no cost!)?

Thanks,

Markian
