Perforce Integration Issue

  • Subject: Perforce Integration Issue

I have been using Perforce with Xcode (after reading the older release notes on how to set it up). It communicates with the perforce server and lets me update my files and is enabled in the project.

It seems as though, the integration is not completely working correctly. The first problem is when I edit a file in Xcode it seems that it should check it out for edit when I start typing in the window. Instead I get the error:

"This file is not writable. You may not be able to save your changes, but you will be able to Save a Copy somewhere else. Do you want to edit this file anyway?"

The second but related and more serious problem is, none of the files seem to enable the checkout for edit menu item under SCM. The "Add To Repository" menu is enabled on all of them. This means that I have to go to the Perforce command line client or P4v and check it out for edit. Is there something wrong with my setup?
