I'm glad its not just me then.
Accessing cvs via ssh or pserver makes no difference (other that
pserver of course is faster). CVS support has been dog since project
builder, and nothing has been done about it since, which is absurd as
its the common dominator between pretty much all projects. Its a
requirement whether your build tool is ant or make. I just don't get
it, you try and raise the issue incase there are any ways around it,
and you get smart arse responses.
Its not like CVS isn't mentioned in the marketing hype, and it would
seem like easy points. Its not like I'm talking about code hints for
the servlet api.

Are you talking about an internal build of Xcode? Or are you joking
again? The 1.2 build of Xcode, although better than 1.0 Xcode, doesn't
appear to be changed from 1.1 Xcode. Fwiw, the 1.2 release notes make
no mention of CVS. One problem I can think of off the top of my head
is that the CVS status of file is often NOT updated automatically, and
in fact, it won't even update if you select "Refresh" from the SCM
menu. You have to Get Info on the file and click over to the SCM tab.
Only then does it go and get the correct status. This is, ummm,
incredibly lame, sorry. And it certainly can't be described as "just
works", imo. Yes, I still have an open bug with ADC about this.
Perhaps you're using pservers or just local repositories? Personally,
I use a remote server with ssh and public-private key pairs (null
passphrases). The null passphrases does now work (it was broken
before), but that's the last significant change/fix I recall being
made to Xcode's CVS support.
Thankfully, I'm well-versed in command line cvs and CVL is a great GUI
tool. But honestly, this kind of basic cvs stuff really should "just
work" in Xcode.
Rob
But it's
not a powerful as the command line nor as nice as CVL. I suspect that
eventually we will have a much more CVL kind of interface but part of
that
problem is that we're trying to be agnostic and support other source
code
revision db's. That requires a lot more work that just adding CVS
support.
