Jon,
It goes without saying that the Xcode team is looking to develop Xcode
in whichever directions will be most useful to Apple developers. I
cannot comment on unannounced product features, etc, blah blah blah ...
But engineering has received several feature enhancement requests from
the Java community which are a part of the Xcode planning process for
future versions.
I would suggest making your needs known to us through the bug reporting
system (<http://developer.apple.com/bugreporter/>, marked as feature
enhancements) and through the <email@hidden> mail
address. The Xcode team management listens to all the input and then
has to make the hard decisions on what can be done in what time frame
to best service Apple developers. Good information on developer needs
coming from these sources is key to setting development priorities.
I also listen closely to the discussions of needs here on Xcode-Users
and other public development mailing lists, but they are often not
articulated adequately to translate into specific feature requests.
best,
Godfrey

It would be great to see Apple expand XCode into this arena. JBuilder
does a good job but they are always giving me static about Apple's JDK
and testing on it and what not. As a customer (paying) I just want it
to work with the latest and greatest, which it does for the most part.
Anybody from Apple able to comment on XCode's future here?
