Setting up a framework

I downloaded a framework that I would like to use with XML doc's. I put the framework in the source folder and included it like any other source file, and went to add framework like I do for an apple framework. My sample program cpmiles but crashes saying it cannot find the framework when it is run.

What are the exact steps for setting up a source to use a 3rd party framework? I am very new to anything outside of the basic type, compile, debug;

I have looked at what other people have said and I am not really sure what you guys mean by build phases, and scripts or whatnot.

Thanks for your help in advance. :-)
