How to communicate (through standard I/O) with application while de bugging it? (newbie)

I have a (not graphical) Java application that when started asks for input from user, but I don't find the way to give that feedback to the application while debugging it with XCode.

Could you help me, please?

Thanks in advance!!
Federico
