While Safari does download files from FTP itself, this is specified as
an FTP directory (as it contains multiple segments). The default
behaviour is for Finder to mount this as a remote filesystem. From a
usability perspective, this is evil, but it's what happens nonetheless.
You should get a new volume appear in the finder with the segments in
it, then you can copy them to wherever you like.
Also note it's bad practice to distribute URLs with session keys and
stuff. Although they expire quite quickly (15 or 30 minutes), in the
meantime someone could go to that link you posted and they'd be
automatically logged in as you. Also note that this is in violation of
your user agreements with Apple.
