Hopefully, one day Apple will try and make MacOSX more friendly
towards multiple partitions and symbolic links across them (e.g.
starting with changes to pax). It would be nice if the install
process (as a customisation!) allowed you to choose where significant
parts of the filesystem (e.g. /Developer, /Users, /Applications ) go.
But then I am dreaming ...
Another way to solve this would be to mount the extra partitions
somewhere in the file system using /etc/fstab. This way even pax
can be fooled. :-)
Yes, that is a possibility. Unfortunately, it probably wouldn't work
well with my current partition sizes and use (ie having a whole
partition for /Developer and a whole partition for /Users). In a more
multiuser or server environment, or if one planned this from the start,
I can see how that would be a good solution.
Just a thought.
