Andy
I got a pretty grim report on GDB and C++ debugging in the previous
post from Mr. Tregaskis. Not that I doubt him, but I hope to ask the
question of a broader audience. Should I even bother trying to develop
a fairly complex generic c++ project in Xcode with GDB?
I've experienced a number of problems with Xcode and C++ too. (My app
is very generic C++ -- it uses SDL, but not STL, and very few if any
templates.)
On the other hand, I had trouble getting the app running with
CodeWarrior (probably since the SDL frameworks weren't built for CW).
I miss a number of CodeWarrior features, such as speed, but Xcode can
more or less handle C++. There was a big issue debugging something
with a namespace -- I forget how this got resolved.
My latest annoyance is that my breakpoints seem to be moving by a
line or two. I suspect I could fix this by doing a clean, but then
I'd have to recompile (did I mention that CodeWarrior is faster?).
I do think Xcode is a lot slicker if you happen to be using
Objective-C. Which is unfortunate.
