Howdy,
(I'm running xcode 1.2 on a Mac running OSX 10.3.5)
I'm trying to use the text editing functions of xcode as my primary editor,
replacing years of code warrior use. There are some behavior differences
that are really annoying me; I'm hoping someone can guide me to configuring
changes that will diminish these.
1) Can I get xcode to remember the position and shape of windows? I have
grown accustomed to my c-code windows opening up 80 columns wide, with .c
windows on the left and .h windows on the right. Xcode opens them up
something like 120 columns wide and doesn't remember where I put them. I
don't see any config setting to change 120 to 80. Any suggestions?
2) I don't care for wraparound search. I can turn it off in the find panel
but this setting is discarded if I quit xcode. Is there not some way I can
disable wraparound search pemananently?
3) The same could be said for single window editing mode, and for opening a
file inside the project window when I double click to launch a file from
finder. I *always* want files to come up in separate windows. Is there no
way to choose this permanently? Note that the one-window/multiple-window
editing-mode icon almost works, but seems to randomly get set back to
single-window mode every few days. And it doesn't seem to have any effect
on the file-is-opened-in-the-project-window feature. The latter feature is
of no interest to me, since it defeats my natural tendency to want to
compare files side by side.
4) Delete in whitespace behavior is very strange. It seems to be trying to
do something smart, changing spaces to tabs. But what happens to me is I
have some space in front of text, try to delete the space and type some more
text, and invariable end up deleting the first letter of my text. Is there
no way to disable this quote-unquote smart feature? (frankly, if I want a
text editor that thinks it knows what I want better than I do, I'd be using
usoft word).
Thanks en advance for an help,
Bob H
