Single file compile oddity

What would prevent XCode from being able to compile a single file in a native target?

It worked.. I made a bunch of changes... it no longer works. When I hit command-K, it opens the build window and immediately says "Build succeeded".

Hmm.. just checked to make sure I'm not insane... it will compile a .mm or .cpp file, but not .c or .m..

Due to the tossed salad nature of the project I have the language forced to Objective-C++. Any thoughts? Happens whether distcc is on or off..

getting annoying having to rebuild the entire project to check one stupid change.
