Thanks for the responses. I didn't know that the table column header
was actually a pop-up menu in disguise.
It was set to the C/C++ compiler, and of course "Other Linker Flags"
isn't in that list.
At the risk of sounding defensive, I'm not sure that turning a column
header into a pop-up menu is "intuitive". Why not just make a *real*
pop-up menu? Maybe even with a label that says what its for. I checked
and there is ample space in the tab...

Have you tried "Other Linker Flags"?

The general way I look for these is as depicted: I go to the Build tab
of the target's Inspector, choose "All Settings" from the pop-up menu
in the column header, and enter a relevant term (in this case,
"Linker") into the search bubble at the bottom. This usually reduces
the long list of settings to a manageable number, and the help text in
the box at the bottom identifies the correct one for me.
(For those of you keeping score at home, the answer is "Other Linker
Flags [OTHER_LDFLAGS]")
