How to change the default path type

One of Xcode's (v1.5) annoying 'features' is that for any new added file it selects an absolute path by default. It's is especially annoying when you share your work with others.
I searched the preference and the advanced preference for a way to change that, but couldn't find anything.
Is there some hidden way to change it ?
