I have a 19" CRT monitor sitting next to me taking up valuable desk
space.
I used to agree with the notion of CRT over LCD, but... Since using
LCD, I must admit that I cannot go back to CRT. The fuzzyness gives
me headaches, I can't read text on them and I am not that old (36). I
also really like the widescreen of the cinema displays. I have a 20"
cinema and a 21" Eizo at my work and a 23" cinema at home.

I strongly disagree - developers need large monitors. Large TFT
monitors are very expensive. Large CRT monitors are cheap. For the
money I would prefer two 19" CRTs to a single 17" TFT.
I bet if you took a poll here, most developers are using CRTs...

I, too, told my management that the Developer Transition Kit would

I agree with your complaint that they didn't adequately warn us
about the monitor requirement, but I object to your use of the
phrase "ordinary monitor". It requires a digital monitor. These
days, that's ordinary. Those dusty old analog clunkers are the odd
ones out. :-)
