I strongly disagree - developers need large monitors. Large TFT
monitors are very expensive. Large CRT monitors are cheap. For the
money I would prefer two 19" CRTs to a single 17" TFT.
I bet if you took a poll here, most developers are using CRTs...

I agree with your complaint that they didn't adequately warn us
about the monitor requirement, but I object to your use of the
phrase "ordinary monitor". It requires a digital monitor. These
days, that's ordinary. Those dusty old analog clunkers are the odd
ones out. :-)
