Of course, the answer depends heavily on what type of development you
are doing exactly.
Some of the common opinions you'll hear are:
1) CodeWarrior is being discontinued, with only one major release
forthcoming, and it won't build x86 code. So better switch to Xcode now.
2) Xcode is slow and deficient in many areas so better to stick with CW
now, and switch in the future when Xcode will presumably be improved.
And you know what? They are both true! :)
My advice is: use both! The downside is that you have to maintain 2
projects, which is maybe a big deal, maybe not, depending how many and
how complicated your projects are. The upside is that you can use
either IDE depending which is better suited to the task. Each's
debugger is better than the other depending what you're doing, so you
get to choose. CW is way faster, so use it for the times when you're
rebuilding a lot. Xcode has nice integration with online docs, so use
it when you're writing new code. Both have different warnings, so you
get cleaner code. etc. etc. etc. That's how I work, and I find it quite
useful.
The truth is that both are good tools, and both have strengths and
weaknesses. Please let's not start a flame war.
