Wasn't the original question about slow linking? If so, the problem
does indeed lie with the GNU tools, and not XCode. XCode _is_ the
IDE, the GNU tools are responsible for compilation and linking and as
the previous poster pointed out, these can be slow in any incarnation.
Duh...you do realize that I explicitly wrote "ld" in the subject and
not Xcode? We all agree that the gnu tools that are part of the Xcode
IDE (hint: What does the i in IDE stand for?) are problem here.
Now that we nailed down the problem so clearly, can anyone maybe
offer a solution? I just noticed that a different project of mine
spends about the same time in libtool and ranlib.
