Build products location is a personal matter. It's a user-level

Admittedly, the way Xcode relies upon subprojects sharing the same
build location is annoying, but this just means you have to tell
all of your programmers that they *have* to use a centralized build
location. You don't have to force them to use the same one you do,
though.
Following Bill's advice in this blog post has saved me a lot of
trouble when it comes to build locations.

I highly recommend it putting your build products and intermediate
files in /tmp somewhere.
