Passing a parameter for shell tool testing

I'm trying to write a shell tool with Xcode.

What's a handy way to pass parameters to the shell tool, during my development?

Xcode by default passes no parameters to the shell tool. I'd like to be able to specify the params. Or do I have to fake the params?
