Has anyone had success running Visual Studio 2003 on a Quad G5
using Virtual PC? I need to find some real-life stats on
performance while debugging, Intellisense, etc.
I am a M$ who recently fell in love with the Mac platform. I am
trying to move to the platform but still need to support my
existing .NET applicaitons. I am trying to use a PowerBook 1.67
Ghz with VirtualPC & VS.NET and it is painful. I WANT to buy a new
Quad G5, but need to understand how it will handle out of the box.
You might also see if Apple introduces an Intel-based Mac on Jan 7.
If they do, it may well permit installation of Windows on a second
partition, and you've got everything in one computer.
Of course, they might introduce some new iPod cases and you're out of
luck. But it's less than two weeks, so it might be worth it to just
wait and see if anything new emerges.
Failing that, I agree with the sentiments expressed so far that
Windows development work is best done on a Windows machine unless
you're really boxed in a corner, even if it's a relatively low-end
Windows box.
