Take a deep breath! You're new to the tool, and bound to feel a bit confused. It will all make a lot more sense in a couple of days!

I'm not trying to bash the tool, I just don't want to get bogged down in the terminology of whether I'm adding a file to a phase or a target or whatever. Mostly I just want the IDE to do the right thing if I accidentally add a file twice. Apparently I was getting bitten by a bug carrying a 2.1 project into 2.2, so maybe it won't happen again.

FWIW, I do find it odd that it's acceptable (and perhaps desirable) to have multiple references to a file in the "Groups & Files" list. It seems like it could lead to unintended consequences (as it apparently did in my case).

Thanks for the info. I did manage to get this setup, I'm mostly just lost in the jargon at the moment. Unfortunately this toolbar item doesn't appear to be available to me in the condensed layout. I guess I just have to go find the right submenu in the project menu.
