On Feb 25, 2005, at 12:12 PM, Dmitry Markman offered this insight:

I want to see .properties file in the xcode editor

currently I just assigned text.html.other (via Get Info) so I can see content of that file
when I click on in it in the xcode
but I'd like to tell to xcode that any .properties file should be opened by default xcode editor

I thought I can add new file type like text.properties via general xcode preferences
but I didn't find the option to add custom file types

I may be totally missing something here Dmitry, but have you tried right-clicking (control-click for the mouse-impaired:) on the .properties file in question, going into "Get Info" and setting Xcode in the "Open with:" section? I bet Xcode won't come up in the popup list of programs to open it with, but if you select "Other" you can choose whatever program you want.

I can't think of what Xcode would do when opening this .properties file EXCEPT to open it in an editor ...
